Congressman Dalip Singh Saund : CBS PSA

Congressman Dalip Singh Saund : CBS PSA

The CBS Diversity ads for APA Heritage Month continues with another politician who paved the way.

Born in India in 1899, Dalip Singh Saund came to the US to study in the 1920’s. Saund began fighting discriminatory laws against Indians and campaigned to allow all people of South Asian descent to become naturalized citizens. In 1949, he and other Indians finally earned the right to become U.S. citizens. In 1956, he was elected to the U.S. Congress from the 29th California District, which then comprised Riverside and Imperial counties. He became the first Asian American, Indian American and Sikh member of the United States Congress. Read more from his autobiography “Congressman from India” here or here.

Super Hero by Maribelle Anes x FreshKiDD x Ldy Lickem

Female Asian American/Australian singers Maribelle Anes x FreshKiDD x Ldy Lickem got together for a worldwide collabo for their original song “Super Hero.” These young women show why they’re superwomen in music with this track. FreshKiDD x Ldy Lickem each take a verse showing how they’d protect you, while Maribelle Anes takes the chorus. Look for a full video with these talented super heroes in a few weeks or so.

LYRICS to Super Hero by Maribelle Anes x FreshKiDD x Ldy Lickem

Superhero oh oh oh oh
I am Maribelle Anes
Superhero oh oh oh oh

Verse 1 (FreshKiDD)
(coming soon)

Chorus (Maribelle Anes):
up, up, up and away
I will be your superwoman
what do you say? baby
up, up, up and we’ll fly
me in your arms is the perfect waste of time

let go of my cape
i’m the one to hold
no this love ain’t fake
i will not et you go
this time it’s for real
can’t ruin the show
just show how you feel
’cause baby i’m your super hero

Verse 2 (Ldy Lickem)
Whenever you’re in danger baby I can fix the problem
Yous on my mind just so I can solve’em
Anything you need, I can do
I’ll be your superhero, never would I lose
Just like wonder woman wouldn’t leave ya hurting
Now I’d fight for you through rain, storm and blizzards
Untwist the situation, twisters
Even through all kinds of disasters
Flash your lights as if I’m Batman
Running like the Flash if you ever need a hand
Count on me, I’m near to the rescue
Just trust me I’ll be there to save you
Don’t be afraid and hold on to me
I’ll keep you safe right under my seat
You ain’t got to worry about a thing I’m near
Without a doubt I’ll get rid of your fears

Chorus x2
I am a superhero

Kung Fooled by Wong Fu Productions x Freddie Wong

Kung Fooled by Wong Fu Productions x Freddie Wong

YouTube powerhouses Wong Fu Productions x Freddie Wong join forces to create the epically funny short “Kung Fooled”. (We tweeted about this short last weekend.) Along with Ryan Higa, DeStorm, Nathan Moore and Brandon Laatsch, these guys show how Asian stereotypes can be funny. Here’s some thoughts on the project by Wong Fu Productions:

The idea first came from an observation we made about Asian stereotypes. Since we often end up touching on the topic while we’re speaking on tour, Wes made a funny point once. Yeah, Asians get stereotyped, but hey, at least the things we’re stereotyped for are “good” things! We’re viewed as being smart, being able to fight, musically gifted, and being able to dance. If you asked me, those are all great talents and qualities! Who wouldn’t wanna be perceived as smart AND dangerous! haha

It’s an awesome way to kick of APA Heritage Month. We hope to see more Asian American collaborations like this in the future.
