Help Kevjumba build a school in Kenya for his 21st birthday

Kevjumba just turned 21. In his latest video, he’s growing out his hair and his douche friend won’t stop being a douche. His friend is no nice guy.

He’s also bringing back JumbaFund after a long hiatus. He was inspired after a recent trip to Kenya with The Supply Group to teach underprivileged kids. For his 21st birthday, Kevjumba partnered with The Supply Education Group to donate his birthday to build the first ever secondary school in a slum community in Nairobi, Kenya. Basically, Kevjumba is asking his followers to donate $21 for his 21st birthday to try to raise $50,000 to build a 5 classroom secondary school. This is one of the first times a Youtube celebrity is doing something like this. Kevjumba has been blessed with so much support thus far and now wants to use all those blessings to give back. That’s why he using his 21st birthday to make a difference. He want to make a change in this world.

The Supply Education Group campaign for Kevjumba birthday. They’re shooting for at least 2381 people to donate $21 each to raise $50,000 to build this school.

Kollaboration New York 6 Auditions

As the New York extension of the national Kollaboration movement, Kollaboration New York (KNY), aims to tap into the abundance and variety of Asian American talent unique to New York and develop a supportive network for the city’s budding Asian American talent.

The talent showcase will take place on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Irving Plaza. In the past, KNY has featured performances ranging from hip hop dance, to acoustic vocalists, to spoken word/rap – all in competition for cash prizes and the grand title of New York’s premier Asian American performer.

On Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 26, Kollaboration New York (KNY) will be hosting auditions for Kollaboration New York 6, the annual main talent showcase.

Those interested in auditioning can sign up through the audition form here. Those that are not able to attend both dates must submit an audition video along with the audition form. Submissions for entry are due June 20, 2011. Audition location and time confirmation will be sent shorty thereafter.

Jonas Bevacqua – Founder of LRG: Death is Still a Mystery

LRG, Lifted Research Group, started in 1999 with some start-up capital and a dream. Fast forward to the present. The small company founded by Jonas Bevacqua and Robert Wright is now a fixture in the fashion and urban scene. Annual sales in 2006 were projected to be more than $150 million.

Now, the dream has ended too soon and a life has ended too young when earlier this week, 34 year-old Jonas Bevacqua was found dead in his Laguna Beach home. An autopsy could not immediately determine his cause of death. Additional test results will
take weeks. Though the cause of his death is undetermined, his life was an inspiration. As part of a family with eight siblings (seven, including Jonas, adopted), he undoubtedly grew up with struggles. From there, Jonas Bevacqua took LRG to become on one of the most popular and recognized street wear in the hip hop and fashion culture, paving the way for so many today. From clothing, the company branched out as a “creative lifestyle” corporation to include electronics, music, and skateboarding.

And as everyone who makes it should do (but only a select few do), they never lost sight of where they came from, supporting underground artists and staying true to who they were. In the 2009 Register interview, “Bevacqua described a passionate but casual work ethic that he said drives LRG, who headquarters includes a basketball court.”

It’s sad to see such a talent and visionary from the Asian-American community come to such an abrupt end. He will truly be missed and remain an inspiration to many.

We’ve seen this HP Veer commerical several times this past week including during the NBA finals. The ad features none other than boxer Manny Pacquiao. He explains this training regime with the help of his smartphone. The guy runs 10 miles every morning, does 2000 sit ups a day, eats 7000 calories, and trains for 8 weeks straight. Manny Pacquiao shows why he chose the smallest 4G smartphone.

Sony Epic’s newest recording artist is seventeen year old Jasmine Villegas, known to her fans as Jasmine V. This talented part Filipino teen R&B and pop singer is about to set the music world on fire! No stranger to the business Jasmine has been entertaining people since the tender age of four when she discovered her talent for singing and would perform at all family functions. Not only is she a singer, but she’s also an aspiring actress with guest-starring roles on various Disney shows along with modeling in print ads & commercials. She’s been developing a fan base in Asia as well as the US. In the Philippines, she is managed by no other then super star world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao.
