The Resistance Series on SyFy

The Resistance Series on SyFy
Adrian Zaw is back for more and better than ever since his 2007 Emmy Award Winning Show for Broadband Drama. Adrian Zaw’s New SyFy Show THE RESISTANCE SERIES airs on SyFy Channel Monday, October 4th, 2010 @ 11pm EST and will be available on iTunes, xBox, and Playstation on October 5th, 2010. The Brand New SyFy Action/Drama is stars Adrian Zaw, and Katrina Law.

Here’s a synopsis of The Resistance:

Set in the dying world of Aurordeca, THE RESISTANCE is an action-packed thriller revolving around an epic tale of destiny and revenge.

SYRUS PRIMORIS (Adrian Zaw), a brilliant chemist, has taken control of the ten regions of Aurordeca in the wake of a devastating plague. Half the population is already dead. It is only Syrus and his miracle suppressant, NOXE, that keep the survivors from succumbing to the virus. In exchange, the people grant Syrus absolute power.

Only one group stands in open opposition to the regime. The Aurordecan Resistance Movement (ARM), led by the fierce and driven LANA. ARM sees Syrus for the despot he truly is and fights tirelessly to find a cure for the disease and to free the people from their enslavement to the suppressant. But everything changes through a chance encounter with a mysterious and deadly drifter, ARCLITE. In our exciting first installment of The Resistance, LANA searches for a microchip that contains crucial information; Syrus plots to bring down ARM once and for all; and a mysterious stranger might hold the answer to saving the world.

The new show stars Adrian Zaw as the MAIN bad guy, as an Asian American playing a non-Asian American Role that’s ground breaking. The project was originally envisioned as a Web Series and now is on the brink of a TV Series or even a movie has become a monumental in achievement. It’s an example of how the entertainment industry is experimenting with new models of creation and testing of content.

“Resistance” came to Starz via “Spider-Man” director Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures, Starz’s production partner on “Spartacus: Blood and Sand.” In 2008, Ghost House executive Aaron Lam noticed the online trailers for the Web series project on YouTube and thought he may have found a “Spartacus” director. He looked up creator Adrian Picardi on Facebook — only to find out he was a 21-year-old fresh out of film school. But impressed by the vision of Picardi and his producing partner Eric Ro, Lam talked to Starz, which agreed to put up money — believed to be in the low-six-figure range, or a minimal percentage of the cost of a TV show episode — to put together an initial “Resistance” story. Picardi served as director, cinematographer, writer and editor, and Ro was a producer and cinematographer. THE RESISTANCE SERIES airs on the SyFy Channel Monday , October 4th, 2010.

Anne Son in My Generation

Anne Son in My Generation
Look for Anne Son as Caroline Chung in the new TV drama “My Generation”. What a difference ten years can make. In 2000, a documentary crew follows a disparate group of high schoolers from Greenbelt High School in Austin, TX as they prepare for graduation, then revisits these former classmates ten years later as they return home to rediscover that just because they’re not where they planned doesn’t mean they’re not right where they need to be. These students couldn’t wait to graduate and head out into the real world. But the world they were entering got very real very fast. As these classmates return home to revisit their old hopes for their future, they’ll discover that, even if you don’t get exactly what you thought you wanted out of life, it’s not too late to get what you need.

Caroline Chung, the shy “wallflower” in high school, decides to break the news that she’s raising his nine year old son, conceived on prom night. Here’s more about her:

Who I am?

I’m a mother, first and foremost. My son Tom is the light of my life. He lives with me in the hotel I run. I took over my parents hotel (where I grew up) a few years ago. Remodeled and made it my own. I’m really proud of it. Other than that, there’s not much to report. Tom is doing great in school. He’s in Kenneth Finley’s class, who I went to high school with. Kenneth is a doll. All the kids love him, Tom especially. I’m back doing this documentary, which I never would’ve guessed I’d be doing at this stage in my life. I spend a lot of time with my friend Dawn, who’s about 30 weeks pregnant and alone while her husband is away. I certainly know what it’s like to be pregnant and alone, so I think this has helped us bond over the past few months. Generally I’m just proud of the person I’ve become.

Who I was?

…is a different story. I was always nervous, shy, a little boy crazy. I never spoke, I had braces, and ZERO fashion sense. I did okay in school There was a lot of pressure to please my parents, who were VERY strict. When I got pregnant in high school, it was a real issue for my family. I don’t know that we ever fully recovered, but I DO know that my mom and dad love Tom just as much as I do, and would never have wanted their lives to have ended up differently.

Doing this documentary was much harder for me then it is now. I would over think every word that would come out of my mouth, horrified that it was just immortalized on film. Nowadays, that’s not the case. I’m happy to share my stories. Well, most of them…

Custom Revenge Dolls are the name of the game in the short film “Voo Dude” for the Interpretations Film Initiative. The quirky action comedy doesn’t have a lot of big name stars, but it’s nicely done. It stars Casey Chan (The lead dork), Gemma Nguyen (The Ex), Robert Ryu (The New Boyfriend) , and Andrea Procopio (The Voo Dude). Somehow they managed to fit a Bruce Lee homage into this tale of revenge.

Here’s the director’s statement on the short:

So my girlfriend at the time (now Fiancé) Alice sends me this link about a film competition.

I look at the rules and my mind shuts it out, I glance at the line and my brain screams “I can’t work with these lines!!”

So after the hurricane of edits died down, I revisited the website, I click on Blow out sale by Timothy Kendall and my world opens up completely. He didn’t let the lines restrict his story and it was very inspiring. So I start drawing, and end up drawing Voodoo dolls for some reason, and a lot of mustaches. I start formulating scenarios with these lines. My adrenaline kicks in.

And now, after a month from the initial storyboards, I’m sitting here with Alice after submitting the compressed version of the film to the website, quiet and nervous. I’m very grateful for our team and everyone who helped us along the way. It was awesome working with you all, let’s tackle another one soon!!

Dancing With The Stars Season 11 Week 1

Margaret Cho is on Dancing With The Stars Season 11. She’s been paired with Louis Van Amstel to form team “Van Cho”. Week 1 was a rough start for the duo.

Spoiler Alert:
Comedian Margaret Cho’s Viennese Waltz to Queen’s “We Are The Champions” was off to an impressive start, but it took a twist into some choreographed comic flubs that didn’t sit well with the judges, earning them the lowest score of the night, a 15. The teams with the four lowest scores were on the chopping block for the results show. Team “Van Cho” was not cut this week, but can close.
